Go Boldly, Voyager.

Just don’t come back.

At the edge of the heliosphere, you wouldn’t know by looking whether you left the cradle of humanity behind and floated out into interstellar space. You would just see unfathomably empty space, no matter which side of the invisible line you were on.

But scientists now have strong evidence that NASA’s Voyager 1probe has crossed this important border, making history as the first human-made object to leave the heliosphere, the magnetic boundary separating the solar system’s sun, planets and solar wind from the rest of the galaxy.

My Book, Limbus, Inc., to Be Stocked in Barnes & Noble Bookstores

Big news. Limbus, Inc., the book I worked on with Jonathan Maberry, Joseph Nassise, Anne Petty, and Benjamin Kane Ethridge, will be stocked in Barnes & Noble bookstores. I’ve been a student of new age book selling, but still, it’s pretty cool to have books with your name on them in stores. Read the release below for more details, and go buy a book. Or, you know, buy it online.

My Newest Book, Haunted Alabama Black Belt

I’ve added another ghost book to my collection, this time telling the dark stories of Alabama’s Black Belt, an area with history as rich as the soil. You can pick it up here.

Also, a local paper in Alabama did this write up of my co-author and I. Enjoy!

That Which Should Not Be is now Entrenched in the Torrent World

So it took a while, but That Which Should Not Be is now pretty much all over bittorrent sites. Personally, I wish you’d buy the book, but I’m just happy people are reading it. All I ask is a review (preferably a good one) on Amazon and other sites. If you aren’t going to buy it, at least get someone else to.

You Shall Never Know Security by J.R. Hamantaschen (5 Stars)

I don’t read all that many anthologies. I prefer reading novels, just as I prefer writing them. So when I do read anthologies, I don’t finish them unless they are good. You Shall Never Know Security by J.R. Hamantaschen is good. In fact, it is very good indeed.

I think there is something wrong with J.R., and I mean that in the kindest way possible. His stories display a sickly twisted diabolical nature that is difficult to achieve. Whether it’s the tragically beautiful “A Parasite Inside Your Brain,” the devilishly delightful “Truth is Stranger Than Fiction,” (so ripping this one off at some point), or the hilariously introspective “Nothing,” every single one of J.R.’s stories is both unique and horrifying in its own way. If you enjoy short fiction with a dark twist—particularly that kind of darkness you only see from Lovecraftians—then check out You Shall Never Know Security.

Just beware—the title does not overpromise.

Song of the Death God by William Holloway

Here’s an ARC copy of William Holloway’s sequel to the fantastic The Immortal Body, hanging out with some other great books. Can’t wait to read it and give you an early idea on whether or not it lives up to its predecessor.

Bram Stoker Recommendation Time!

So it’s that time of year when I’m starting to think about what I’m going to recommend for the Bram Stoker Award. I’m pretty active when it comes to recommending works for the Stoker Awards (some people would probably say too active). I also don’t keep it a secret. I’ve already recommended the fantastic High Moor 2: Moonstruck in the novel category. There will be more. Here’s what I’m reading these days–

Steel Breeze — The highly anticipated follow up to one of my favorite books from last year, The Devil of Echo Lake.

Special Dead — The sequel to another one of my favorites, Twice Shy. Zombies. Brains. Awesome.

Only The Thunder Knows — Don’t judge a book by its title, but that’s pretty awesome…

East End Girls — Heard some great things.
